Chief Thomas back to ESU?

We have been hearing that City HR is looking into Chief Thomas being moved from the position she was hired for, to becoming to a classified position as the executive officer. Anyone got any news?

  1. That would be awesome! I hope that they are taking a serious look at it. She does not deserve to be, nor is she qualified to be, running this department. Maybe BC Harkness will go back into the field where he belongs.

  2. Awesome news!

She was hired for a specific position but was "conveniently" moved to CEO --- with a recent 10-percent pay raise; when we were told by Fire Chief. Creecy that we shouldn't expect any pay raises until ".... at least 2015." It's next to impossible to show you any trust or respect Chief when you [clearly] lied to us! Shame on you!

Let's put Chief Harkness [a damn good man and even better fire-ground officer] back in the field where he belongs --- and most certainly where he should have been from the day he was promoted.

Good Lord I hope [pray] this is more than just a "word on the street."

  3. I think it is a shame so many people use this forum to trash talk somebody with as much experience as Chief Thomas. she has brought a lot to the Department, and works hard to continually improve the working conditions. The addition of her to the staff was needed!

    1. What experience? She should never have been hired, and it was done as a favor.
Unless the addition was total incompetence.
She needs to go far away from this Department.

    2. what? The Dallas Fire Department ? where she claims to have been a Lt in suppression ? or working with Jerry Overton with Zoll systems ? buying black boxes that are already on the trucks per nfpa (yep these are extra) and what esle does Zoll make that the city has ??????
I'm not saying ,I'm just saying

    3. Im not sure who posted this comment but you should admit yourself for a random drug test, this woamn has no experience and has not done anything she was hired to do. She was supposed to get the ALS company PPG's when she was hired, 7 years later they still are not done but a Lieutenant drafted several to put in place when it started and there still not any now. Now wonder Bobby has him as her Executive Ofifcer, please!! She has been fired from everyplace she worked for running it into the ground, just ask AMR!!!

  4. I'm not trashing her personally. She reached out to me when I was going through a rough time, and I appreciated that. She was hired for a specific, EMS-related position, however. As a taxpayer (did I mention that yet?), I am very interested in the fact that someone who was hired as an unclassified civilian battalion chief is now apparently in a classified position. I seem to recall assurances at the time that she, Carl Jackson, and...who was the third one? were never going to be in our chain of command. That seems to have changed.

I do think that having someone with so little field suppression time in the XO position is a disaster in the making - the draft PPG for vehicle operations that came out a year or two ago was all the proof I needed of that. I do not understand why she keeps pushing to outsource things for "liability" reasons that end up costing a bajillion dollars (e.g. the bottle shop and trucking our PPE to New York every quarter rather than spending the money on some extractors). I'm waiting for her to outsource Supression, too - that's the biggest liability we have. We could get hurt doing this stuff, after all.

  5. Needed for what reason exactly?

  6. I think my concern more than anything, is the lack of experience in the department. It seems like to me, instead of wasting so much money on building bridges - more should have been spent on career development. I'm not knocking anyone that received a promotion recently because it is not their fault they were prematurely promoted - but how many more experienced - ie. more qualified, people were overlooked in the process and inevitably said "you know what, obviously someone is more interested in creating an image instead of a department. It's just a travesty.

  7. Isn't she the reason almost half the departments EMT almost relapsed? and CPR? Obviously some of you do not her her history. She worked for RAA and was asked to leave then she went to ODEMSA and was once again asked to leave.

    1. Don't forget about the Department operating without an EMS license because for her screwing up the agency inspection.
Seems like the worse her track record is the more Creecy listens to her.

  8. Chief Thomas and "Chief" Jackson are wastes of tax payer money. There needs to be total transparency of their actions and functions in the department, and there simply isn't. If I knew I was making moves that could potentially be misleading to the fire department and the city of richmond, well...I couldn't sleep at night. Some people can apparently.

    1. Blame the game not the player...

    2. Totally irrelevant statement.

    3. It's not a "game." It's positions held by people who are paid for by the tax payers. That should mean total transparency and no amount of "player" this or "game" that will ever stop the fact that tax payers need to know what goes on with their money.

  9. What about Carl Jackson becoming a classified employee and being in the DROP? This is a person who knows nothing about about operstions and thanks to Creecy we now have someone in the eyes of HR could be on the car.

  10. One day you will understand, It is not about what fire fighters want or need. It is not about what keeps the citizens safe and provides the best possible service. The only thing that matters is politics and self preservation! Certain people will get looked out for and paths will get paved. The problem is you are looking at this from an honest hardworking individuals perspective and that is something he does not have in common with you. Problem is eventually when you "burn every bridge" behind you, you end up on an island watching 50+ firefighters from 50 different backrounds, at 50 different points in their career standing together. Only difference is they are on a boat.

  11. Everywhere Thomas has been, she messed those agencies up and had to leave. Her and Jackson are very similar, both are worthless!

  12. I'm sorry, I didn't know playing with people's lives [firefighting] was a "game."

    1. It is no game. Please stay safe out there. Look out for each other. For the new people out there learn something new everyday. For the veterans, teach something everyday. We will make it through this rough period but until a change comes please please be safe.
