  2. I remember a time when the GPS was going to do the same thing.... The RFD will prevail with or with video of the event.

  3. Zoll will fail and prove to be another colossal waste of money. Also, has anyone at admin planned for when the Zoll becomes self-aware, and takes over the department?

  4. What was the price tag for the Zoll system?

    7 trucks
    7 Zolls
    39 key fobs
    Instillation
    Maintenance
    Monitoring
The person who dishes out the punishment

  5. 39 key fobs? Try 500.

  6. How long will the Zoll work? If Pierce had anything to do with them, probably not long. If it is not working, who is going to report it. Does it shut the apparatus down?

How about chiefs running up hundreds of dollars a month on their EZPASS in the Tidewater area? Will they have a Zoll to adhere to?

  7. Homework has been done. The new NFPA standards say a NFPA type of tattletale system has to be in place as of 1-1-2012. These new rigs were out of Pierces door before this date. If they weren't required then could someone explain why they were purchased over the TICs.

  8. Kool Aid Salesman:

The NFPA required "black box" is entirely different from the Zoll system. We have the required NFPA system, and the Zoll system on top of it. The Zoll system is entirely for behavior change, the NFPA is to record data in case of accident, I believe.

  9. If I understand it right, the Zoll has nothing to do with the required "tell-tale devices". In fact, I believe the Zoll is NOT even NFPA approved. The apparatus already has a data recorder (which I believe is required and approved by NFPA) very similar to the data recorders used in over the road trucks. It monitors many of the same functions as the Zoll, it just doesn't distinguish between drivers, and doesn't click, talk, burp, or whatever that thing does to yell at drivers.

  10. Kool Aid, no new NFPA regulations took effect on 1-1-12. NFPA standards are updated every 5 years, and it was last updated in 2009 (when the "black boxes" were made mandatory), therefore, the next updated will be in 2014. I'm afraid you got some bad info from someone....

  11. Kool Aid salesman is right if Pierce has anything to do with the Zoll they won't work.

Pierce has fleeced the taxpayers. Letting Pierce do what they have done to Richmond maybe legal, but it is un ethical and immoral.

  12. I will be making a "best of" from all the Zoll footage.... Lot's of bad driving by the public... You know wrong way in a one way. Failure to yeald to emergency vehicles... I am sure with good enough quality film we could send te public tickets for bad driving.

Article from Fire 2020 back in 2008 , this was right after Building Bridges was started and the article seems to say that we had completed all the recommendations . I think when he weeded the english garden it was called retirement, how many times was the word exclusion used? (wonder if during the infamous river incident if the crews felt excluded with MRE's from the Chief?)
